Some fun treats for Halloween!
Makes 12 bars
Ingredients
3 Tbsp butter
1 (10.5-oz.) package or miniature marshmallows
5 cups Cheerios
1 cup “Ghoul’s Mix” M&Ms, divided
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1 tsp canola oil
Black food coloring (optional)
1 pkg candy eye sprinkles
Directions
Melt the butter in a large pot over medium-low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until melted. Remove from heat. Add the Cheerios and 3/4 cup of the M&Ms, and gently stir to combine. Some of the M&Ms might crack and melt, but that’s ok. Transfer to a greased 9x13-inch baking pan, and gently press to an even layer with a greased spatula. Set aside.
In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the chocolate chips in 15-second intervals, stirring in between each interval until just melted. Stir in a few drop of black food coloring, if using. Add the tsp of canola oil and and microwave another 10 seconds. Stir, and transfer to a small resealable plastic bag. Snip one corner off the bag and drizzle the chocolate all over the cereal bars. Working quickly before the chocolate hardens, sprinkle the remaining M&Ms on top, along with the candy eyes.
Refrigerate to set, then cut into squares and serve.
*Tip: Score the cereal bars before drizzling the chocolate on top so that you can see where to avoid placing the candy eyeballs.
